SZA's CRTL album was a definite highlight from last year, and now she's released a brand new video for "Doves In The Wind," featuring Pulitzer Prize-winner Kendrick Lamar.
The video brings some serious 80's kung-fu movie vibes, with SZA and Kendrick Lamar facing off as competing martial arts masters. The song's slow-paced ode to pussy power is a definite contrast to this action packed video, but it's just weird enough to work. The video is brimming with old kung-fu movie aesthetics, including over the top punching sounds, and horribly dubbed lines.
After arriving on horseback to a training ground, SZA is greeted by two hooded ninja warriors, who allow her to pass in order to face off against her nemesis. Kung-Fu Kenny is in full effect here, with Kendrick posted on top of a mountain like a monk, hitting sweet poses and firing off blasts of ki energy at an approaching SZA.
The video ends with a final, one on one, face off between the two warriors. I wont spoil who the winner is, but rest assured that it's action packed. When will be be getting a feature-length TDE martial arts movie?
