Steve Bing, millionaire businessman, committed suicide on Monday (June 22).

A tragedy occurred in the Century City area of Los Angeles today (June 22) after businessman, writer, and producer Steve Bing committed suicide. The avid philanthropist was a father of two: he shared a son with ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley and a daughter with former tennis player Lisa Bonder. Bing was also known as a financier of a number of Hollywood films including Tom Hanks's The Polar Express (he gave $80 million), Beowulf by Robert Zemekis, Martin Scorcese's concert film Shine a Light about the Rolling Stones, and was also the executive producer of Sylvester Stallone's Get Carter. Bing inherited his wealth from his real estate developer grandfather who left him $600 million when Bing was just 18-years-old.

According to TMZ, Steve Bing was living in Century City at a luxury apartment and leaped to his death from the building. The outlet states that those close to Bing shared that he was suffering from depression and it intensified due to the"lack of human contact during quarantine." However, it isn't clear if that is what motivated Bing to take his own life.

He is survived by his two children. We offer our condolences to Steve Bing's loved ones during this difficult time.
