NFL free agent wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was reportedly arrested Wednesday night for "vehicular assault," stemming from a February 16 crash in Denver.

According to reports, Thomas was allegedly driving at speeds exceeding 70 MPH in a 30 MPH zone with two people inside his vehicle when he lost control and rolled the car multiple times on Auraria Parkway near 12th Street.

Under Colorado law, “vehicular assault” occurs when a person drives recklessly or under the influence of alcohol and the driving causes serious bodily injury to another person.

"Cops and emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later and took over -- managing to free Thomas and his 2 passengers.

Cops say all 3 people in the car were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries. One of the passengers suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the crash.

A witness tells TMZ Sports ... Thomas seemed to be fine other than a "hellacious knot" on his head."

Thomas, who was acquired by the Houston Texans through a trade with the Denver Broncos in October, played in seven games for Houston before tearing his left Achilles in a Week 16 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 31-year old receiver was released by the team earlier this month and is therefore a free agent.
