There are plenty of movies that are on "must watch" lists for 2019, but there aren't many that are as anticipated as Detective Pikachu starring Ryan Reynolds. The Deadpool actor plays the title character in the Pokémon universe's first ever live-action film. In the movie, Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) is the son of a detective and a former Pokémon trainer. His father vanishes after a car crash and Tim later links up with Detective Pikachu, Tim's father's former partner. The two join forces to solve the mystery of Tim's missing father while uncovering secrets of the Pokémon universe.

In Reynolds' latest teaser for the film, the actor is featured in Outside the Actor's Studio, a comedic play on the Emmy Award-winning series, Inside the Actor's Studio. Reynolds, along with his equally as famous wife Blake Lively, jokingly give a behind-the-scenes talk about how he prepared for his upcoming action flick.

“I vanish in my roles,” Reynolds said. “This is a funny anecdote. I was on my way to pick up my daughters from school when I heard that I got the role. Well, I didn’t show up at school, because Detective Pikachu, he doesn’t know who those two little girls are.” He also said, "I tried to lose 182 pounds to match his weight until doctors intervened."

Blake joked that there was no way she and their daughters were going to see the film. "I mean, he didn't even change his voice. It just sounds like him," she quipped.

Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10.
