Fans all around the world were hyped to see Soulja Boy perform at the BET Social Awards show, but the rapper has been making headlines for a television clip that has caused controversy. Soulja Boy is one who faces all drama head-on, whether it has to do with criticizing other artists or airing his dirty relationship laundry. Back in the early seasons of VH1's Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, the rapper was featured with his then-girlfriend Nia Riley, daughter of music legend Teddy Riley. Their relationship was a tumultuous one back then, but the couple placed their on-again-off-again romance back in front of reality television cameras by joining Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition.

Things seemed to have come to a head in a clip that disturbed viewers that showed a verbal argument turning physical. In the clip, while other cast members were sleeping, Soulja accused Nia of "embarrassing him on TV." Nia told him to stop talking before Soulja jumped on her while she was in bed and attempted to wrestle her cell phone out of her hands. Nia began screaming and kicking to get the rapper off of her yelling, “Get out! Get the f**k off of me!” The other cast mates awoke to Nia's cries and checked on her to make sure she was okay.

Tammy Rivera, the wife of Waka Flocka, said, “We in this together, so I was ready to beat Soulja a** if I had to." The hosts/therapists on site scolded Soulja and told him to never put his hands on Nia again. Meanwhile, Nia received backlash on social media from people who accused her of overexaggerating the drama for ratings. She responded that she would never do something like that.

"I would never fake any form of an abusive relationship on tv," Nia wrote on Twitter. "I’m not an actress and that s**t is NOT cute. He was not concerned about a damn phone. He was mad af I was talking to him how he talks to me and tried to attack me then remembered them cameras were there."
